As International Women's Day approaches, while celebrating the achievements of women in different aspects, it is thankful to expectant mothers for the contributions. Along with anticipations for the arrival of the newborn, expectant mothers often come with overwhelming concerns, especially for the well-being of their babies. Early pregnancy screening plays a vital role when it comes to evaluating foetal health and growth. In addition to early understanding to the well-being of both expectant mothers and their babies, it is also possible to detect the risk factors of serious conditions like Down syndrome and preeclampsia. 

In this episode of "Doctors' Insights", Dr Poon Chiu Yee, Liona (Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, CUHKMC) will give an overview of early pregnancy screening. Apart from introducing common serious diseases in early pregnancy, Dr Poon will also present different screening practices, their principles and accuracy rates.
