21-valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV21)
Take an Early Step in Pneumococcal Disease Prevention
Pneumococcal infection can lead to serious illnesses including pneumonia, sepsis, meningitis, and acute otitis media (middle ear infection). While the risk is commonly associated with older adults, increasing age, having certain chronic conditions, weakened immunity, and/or certain lifestyle factors may also increase the risk of pneumococcal infection.
CUHK Medical Centre now provides the 21-valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV21) self-financed vaccination service as an additional option for adults aged 18 or above.

Understanding PCV21
Single-dose administration · 21 serotypes · Conjugate vaccine
Coverage of 21 pneumococcal serotypes
PCV21 covers 21 pneumococcal serotypes (including serotypes 3) which are among those relevant to the pneumococcal disease burden in Hong Kong.
Conjugate vaccine technology
As a conjugate vaccine, PCV21 helps stimulate T-cell immune memory.
Single-dose administration
PCV21 is administered as a single dose in adults aged 18 or above. Individuals who have previously received other pneumococcal vaccines should consult a doctor egarding the appropriate vaccination arrangement.
International regulatory approval
PCV21 has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Commission.
Pneumococcal Disease Is Not Only a Concern for the Elderly
Adults aged 50 or above and individuals at higher risk should pay particular attention
