CUHKMC Cross-Boundary Health Check

Generally, the Programme is suitable for persons aged 18 or above. Elderly participants or those with mobility difficulties are advised to be accompanied by a family member or friend to facilitate a smoother journey and health check-up process.

Participants will convene at CUHK Medical Centre on the morning of their check-up and travel to Shenzhen on designated cross-border transport arranged under the programme. Transport from CUHK Medical Centre to CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Centre (No. 401 Jihua Road, Longgang District, Shenzhen) is included in the programme.

After the health check-up, participants may continue their stay in Shenzhen or arrange their return to Hong Kong. Return transportation is not included in the programme . We are available to provide relevant information on return transport options to assist participants in making their own return arrangements at their own expense. 

The check-up generally takes about 3 hours and can be completed within the same day. The actual duration may vary depending on the examination arrangements on the day and individual circumstances.

After completing the check-up, participants are free to plan their own itinerary—they may choose to stay in Shenzhen and make their own arrangements, or return to Hong Kong on the same day. 

The designated transport will take participants to the boundary control point. Participants are required to disembark and complete the Hong Kong and Mainland immigration clearance themselves. After immigration clearance, participants will reboard the transport and head directly to CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Centre.

Participants must prepare a valid Hong Kong Identity Card, Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents, or other required valid travel documents. Please ensure all documents are valid and meet border entry and exit requirements.

Yes. Certain examination items require fasting or other advance preparations. Once the booking is confirmed, participants will receive detailed pre-check-up guidelines and instructions. Please follow these instructions carefully to help ensure a smooth check-up process.

To ensure a smooth and comfortable experience, we recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing and flat shoes, and minimizing jewellery where possible. You may also wish to bring a light jacket for added warmth when transitioning between specific assessments.

Participants taking long-term medication for chronic conditions may generally maintain their prescribed routine, with the exception of glucose-lowering medication.

If you are unsure whether any medication should be withheld before the health check-up, please consult your doctor or our Customer Service team in advance.

Please bring valid identification and travel documents, including your Hong Kong Identity Card, Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, and any other valid entry or exit documents applicable to your circumstances.

If you have undergone health check-ups or related examinations within the past three months, we recommend bringing the relevant medical reports, medical history information and details of your current medications for reference by doctors at CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Centre. If available, please also bring relevant imaging reports, such as chest X-rays, ultrasound scans, mammograms, CT scans or MRI scans.

To ensure a smooth check-up process, please take note of the following guidelines:

• 3 Days Before the Check-up: Maintain a light diet, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise.
• 8 Hours Before the Check-up: Fast completely. Stop drinking water 2 hours prior to the check-up, and refrain from chewing gum or drinking coffee, tea, lemonade, or other beverages.
• For Women: Where possible, schedule the health check-up outside your menstrual period. If gynaecological examinations are required, please avoid vaginal douching, vaginal medication and sexual activity for three days beforehand. If you are unsure whether you may be pregnant, please confirm your pregnancy status before undergoing the relevant examinations.
• Health Assessment Form: If you have not yet completed the Health Assessment Form, please complete and submit it before the health check-up according to the instructions provided.

Upon successful booking, we will also provide detailed pre-check-up instructions. Please follow them closely to prepare.

Health check-up reports are generally completed within approximately 21 days. The actual timeframe may vary depending on the examinations involved.

Once the check-up report is ready, CUHK Medical Centre will provide follow-up arrangements and schedule a consultation. Our doctor will explain the results and provide relevant health advice during the consultation. 

After the report is completed, CUHK Medical Centre will schedule a doctor consultation to explain the check-up results, helping the participant understand the findings and relevant aspects of their health, and provide appropriate health advice where needed. 

If the health check-up results identify any condition requiring urgent follow-up, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Medical Centre will contact the participant directly and advise on the appropriate follow-up arrangements based on the circumstances. 

Upon the participant’s return to Hong Kong, CUHK Medical Centre will also arrange for a doctor to explain the health check-up report and provide relevant health advice. Where further examinations, specialist consultations or other medical follow-up are required, participants may, according to their individual needs, choose to receive the relevant services at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Medical Centre, CUHK Medical Centre, or another medical institution of their choice. 

Any subsequent medical services will be charged in accordance with the prevailing fee schedule of the medical institution providing the relevant services. 

If the results indicate that further assessment or medical follow-up may be appropriate, our doctor will provide recommendations based on the participant’s individual circumstances.

Depending on their personal needs and preferences, participants may choose to schedule further examinations, specialist consultations, or other appropriate medical services at CUHK Medical Centre, or select another medical institution of their choice for follow-up care.
