CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC) held a talk and exhibition on maternal and infant nutrition and breastfeeding challenges on 12 July (Saturday). The event attracted over 140 participants who are parents-to-be and concerned about family health.

We were honoured to have Dr TAM Wing Hung, Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology of CUHKMC; Dr Sophie LEUNG Suk Fong, Specialist in Paediatrics of CUHKMC; and Mr Gordon CHEUNG Chi Leung, Senior Dietitian of CUHKMC, as guest speakers. They provided an in-depth discussion on nutritional tips during pregnancy and early childhood, including the “First 1,000 Days” (from conception onwards), the impact of maternal nutrition on infant health, and breastfeeding management, including common concerns such as blocked ducts and mastitis. The Q&A session was well-received with enthusiastic participation from the audience.

During the event, an interactive exhibition was set up to debunk pregnancy-related dietary myths and provide nutritional tips using food models. Breastfeeding experts were also on-site to address the participants’ concerns.
