CUHK Medical Clinic (Sai Sha) officially commenced services on 5 June, providing residents in the district with a diversified range of primary healthcare services, including outpatient consultations, health checks, vaccinations, and chronic disease management.

CUHK Medical Clinic (Sai Sha), operated by CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC), officially opened today, marking a significant step in extending university-level healthcare services to the community. Located at GO PARK 2 in Sai Sha, the Clinic aims to provide professional, reliable, and continuous health management and medical services to residents in the district.

The opening ceremony of CUHK Medical Clinic (Sai Sha) was held today, officiated by Dr. Chung Kin Lai, Chief Executive Officer of CUHKMC; Professor Patrick Yung, Associate Dean (Mainland Affairs) of the Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong; and Ms. Clara Tam, Chief Nursing Officer of CUHKMC. Joined by distinguished guests, they presided over the ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony. Building a Community Healthcare Hub for Preventive Medicine and Health Management

Dr. Chung Kin Lai, Chief Executive Officer of CUHKMC, said, “With the continuous population growth in Sai Sha and Ma On Shan, the strategic location of CUHK Medical Centre (Sai Sha) creates a youthful and vibrant medical environment. The CUHK Medical Clinic (Sai Sha) not only provides general outpatient services but also focuses on ‘preventive medicine and health management,’ covering health assessments, chronic disease management, and vaccinations, supporting residents in taking a more proactive approach to their long-term health.”

Strategic Location: Creating a New Benchmark for Vibrant and Healthy Living

Dr. Chung added, “Our decision to establish the Clinic at GO PARK 2 aligns with the hospital’s ‘community-based’ healthcare strategy, ensuring that residents can easily access professional medical support in their daily lives, thereby reducing the inconvenience of having to seek medical care across districts.”

The strategic location of CUHK Medical Centre (Sai Sha) is situated in the newly developed Sai Sha area, right next to the vibrant GO PARK 2. This forward-looking layout is designed to create a youthful, positive, and health-friendly medical environment. Surrounded by greenery and complete with well-established facilities, the Clinic offers a comfortable and convenient healthcare experience for patients and their families. It further fosters an atmosphere that actively promotes physical and mental well-being by integrating nature, sports, and modern living elements. The Clinic aspires to become an emerging landmark for healthy living, leading a new era of healthcare characterised by “integrating medical care with harmonious living”.

“Two-Way Referral” Model Seamlessly Connecting with CUHKMC’s Specialist Care

CUHK Medical Clinic (Sai Sha) is located in close proximity to CUHKMC, with only an approximate 9-minute drive between them, and is supported by the hospital’s professional specialist team and referral network. Following initial consultation and assessment at the Clinic, residents who encounter sudden conditions (such as severe sports sprains) or require further investigations, specialist treatments, and inpatient services can be immediately referred to CUHKMC for follow-up, and subsequently return to the Clinic for follow-up consultations and rehabilitation.

This “two-way referral” model enables the Clinic to address daily outpatient and health management needs but also ensures seamless integration with specialist medical services. Through continuous health follow-ups, it fosters the establishment and reinforcement of health management habits among residents. As a result, it reduces the inconvenience of cross-district medical consultations, and enhances the convenience of community living and the sense of medical security.

In addition to referral services, the Clinic provides a broad range of medical support services beyond those typically available at a community clinic, covering health checks, chronic disease management, outpatient consultations, vaccination services, health risk assessments and preventive medicine consultation services, offering more comprehensive medical protection for residents.

Service Vision:  Strengthening the Synergy Between Community and Hospital Care

Supported by CUHKMC’s professional healthcare team and referral network, CUHK Medical Clinic (Sai Sha) will bring a more convenient and comprehensive healthcare support to residents in Sai Sha, Shap Sze Heung and Ma On Shan communities. The Clinic will continue to organise community health talks and public education programmes to promote awareness of healthcare and health management, contributing to the long-term health of the community.
