Introduction

Structural heart disease refers to heart problem related to the structure of your heart. It means there is an abnormality in the structure or function of the valves, walls, chambers or muscles in your heart. Structural heart disease can lead to heart failure and other health problems over time if left untreated.

The main types of structural heart disease are:

Heart valve disease: a problem with any of the four valves that open and close to control blood flow
Cardiomyopathy: a disease involving the heart muscle
Congenital heart disease: structural heart problems that you have at birth

甚麼是結構性心臟病？ (Only available in Chinese)

結構性心臟病泛指與心臟結構有關的心臟問題。若心臟的瓣膜、壁、腔室，或肌肉的結構功能出現異常，就會引致包括心臟瓣膜疾病、心肌病、先天性心臟病等。結構性心臟病如不及早治理，有機會演變成為心臟衰竭，或引發有關併發症，例如心房顫動、中風、肺動脈高血壓等情況。如果及早發現及治療，有些結構性心臟病更可能治癒。 ️‍結構性心臟病主要類型： 1. 心臟瓣膜疾病用於控制血流的四個瓣膜中的任何一個出現問題，包括主動脈瓣、肺動脈瓣、三尖瓣及二尖瓣。普遍主動脈瓣和二尖瓣較容易引起瓣膜性心臟病。 2. 心肌病一種涉及心臟肌肉的疾病，心臟肌肉主要負責泵血，藉由收縮放鬆將血液從心臟運送至全身，如不能自行收縮放鬆，就是心肌出現了問題。 3. 先天性心臟病指一出生便有心臟結構問題，或心臟及周遭血管未能正常發育。
